Episode 15 | Stories Worth Telling… with Luís Filipe Carvalho, Céu Fernandes and Luís Carvalho

back to news

In Episode 15, we spoke with two generations of the Carvalho family, all part of Riopele’s team.

What does it mean to you to see your son working at Riopele?

Céu Fernandes: It marks the arrival of the third generation. It all started with my father, who worked in the dyeing department for around 40 years. Then I joined, later my sister, and now it's Luís' turn.

Luís Filipe Carvalho: I feel a certain sense of pride, although he doesn't like me saying that.

Is there any milestone or person in Riopele's 100-year history that stands out to you?

Luís Carvalho: Since joining Riopele, I have seen the implementation of several initiatives that have contributed to employees' well-being. I would therefore like to highlight the influence of Francisca Oliveira, who has also been someone who supported me greatly since I joined the company.

Céu Fernandes: The implementation of the SAP system completely changed the way we worked. Back then, everything was much more manual. We used to send handwritten production recipes to the factory. Today, that would be unthinkable. It was a major transformation in the way we work.

What message would you like to leave as Riopele celebrates its 100th anniversary?

Céu Fernandes:Inspire.

Luís Filipe Carvalho: Exactly. Inspiring younger generations is extremely important.

Luís Carvalho: My message is actually very similar. Above all, I hope Riopele continues to enjoy the success it has achieved so far and remains focused on the pillars that have supported the company throughout these 100 years, especially its people.

In my opinion, sharing knowledge and passing on values from one generation to the next is essential. That is what truly sets Riopele apart and makes it stand out from so many other companies.
