Riopele joins the Bioeconomy Pact for the Textile Sector

Riopele has become a signatory of the Bioeconomy Pact for the Textile Sector, joining an initiative aimed at accelerating the industry's transition towards a circular, regenerative and inclusive economic model.

The pact was established within the framework of the be@t – Bioeconomy for the Textile Sector project and aligns with European guidelines that position bioeconomy as one of the key drivers of decarbonisation and industrial competitiveness. The initiative brings together companies, associations and other stakeholders from the textile ecosystem around shared goals for the coming decade.

Valid until 2030, the commitment is based on voluntary targets that include increasing material circularity, reducing water consumption, improving energy efficiency, developing products and processes with a lower environmental impact, strengthening skills development and enhancing workers’ well-being, while promoting responsible, transparent and resilient value chains.

For Riopele, joining the pact represents another step forward in its sustainability strategy. “Riopele is looking firmly towards the future, with ambitious goals already set for next year, when we celebrate our centenary. As leaders in the textile industry, we are reinforcing our commitment to cooperate and support the sector’s transition by joining collective efforts and mobilising the entire industry,” says Isabel Domingues, Riopele’s Sustainability Director.

The pact is promoted by CITEVE in collaboration with the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA) and the sector’s leading representative associations: ANIVEC/APIV, ATP, ANIT-LAR and ANIL.
