The Riopele Chairman, José Alexandre Oliveira, met with the Ambassador of India to Portugal, Manish Chauhan, at the Riopele headquarters in Vila Nova de Famalicão on 11th May.

The new commercial agreements between the European Union and India, the signs of progress, especially in the areas of trade and infrastructures, and the structural reforms necessary for greater investment and business development were the key themes on the agenda.

This highlights the deepening of economic relations with India that has been strengthened since the late 2000s as reflected in the partnerships among major raw material suppliers and the opening of a subsidiary company, in 2019, to engage in activities including the sourcing of raw materials, supply chain operations and supplying fashion textiles to some of the leading Indian retailers.

At the end of the meeting, which took place in the company’s grand reception hall, Ambassador Manish Chauhan signed the Riopele visitors’ book, followed by a visit to the Finishing and Quality Control area.
